The Fredericton SPCA is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization that has existed in this region for more than 98 years.
In February 1914, a meeting held in the Fredericton City Council Chambers to establish this organization. The meeting was overseen by the mayor of the day, Mr. W.S. Hooper.
This SPCA branch society built its first animal shelter on Montgomery Street in November of 1974. During that first year, the shelter received 600 animals. By 1977, the number of animals taken in was up to 900 and that figure skyrocketed to 1,655 in 1989. In 2009 the Fredericton SPCA received 1,200 animals.

The Fredericton SPCA positively impacts animal welfare by:
◾Advocating and promoting humane, responsible, animal guardianship; and

Insurance tips for young drivers

For many young drivers, automobile insurance which is required by law in Canada can be costly. Often times insurance rates for young drivers reflect lack of driving experience. “Statistics tells us that drivers aged 16 to 24, though they only represent 9 per cent of the driving public, they also represent 25 per cent of the road fatalities and serious injuries.” explains Peter Warner of the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

-shop around, including researching online
-attending an accredited driving school usually results in an insurance discount
-bundling insurance needs (auto/homeowners/tenant package) with one insurer can result in savings
-investigate various coverages and deductibles
-ask about student discounts
-do the math. Compare any service fees for monthly payment programs on annual premiums to paying in full for a six-month policy
-installation of approved anti-theft devices, such as immobilizers and tracking devices, may result in discounts .
-pay insurance bills on time
-maintain a clean driving record. No tickets, charges, accidents or other claims can translate into a no-claims discount.
When applying for insurance, it’s crucial to fully inform your insurance company about who the principal drivers are, and who are the occasional drivers, says IBC’s Peter Warner. “By not doing so, an insurance company can cancel the insurance for `material change,’ or deny a claim.”

About the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Initiative http://www.shorelinecleanup.ca

In 1994, a small team of employees and volunteers at the Vancouver Aquarium decided to clean up a local beach in Stanley Park to help protect the city’s shorelines. They submitted the data collected during this event to the International Coastal Cleanup, a global program managed by the Ocean Conservancy. By 1997, 400 volunteers were participating in 20 sites across British Columbia as part of the Great BC Beach Cleanup.
In 2002, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup emerged as a national program, providing all Canadians the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities. Cleanups started appearing in every province and territory, and by 2003, more than 20,000 volunteers were taking part.
Over the following years, the program continued to expand its reach and influence, aided by the support of sponsors, donors, and partners (such as WWF Canada, who became a full partner of the Shoreline Cleanup in 2010). Public support and interest in the program also grew as Canadians gradually became more aware of the harmful effects of shoreline litter on both fragile aquatic ecosystems and people.
In 2012, the Shoreline Cleanup celebrated its 19th anniversary with more than 57,000 volunteers, and expanded the spring cleanup to include school groups in Ontario and British Columbia. Today, it is recognized as one of the largest direct action conservation programs, as well as the most significant contributor to the International Coastal Cleanup in Canada.

Experience: I would rate our experience a definite 10. My daughter found this car and was treated very fairly by Will. This was her first car and had a list of questions and wanted to do this on her own. Will answered all her questions and made the process very easy.

We live at St Mary’s First Nation and drive by your business daily, the main reason we stopped in was because you are open on Saturday and Sunday! This is very convenient.

I also want to mention that the atmosphere inside your business is outstanding. My husband is still talking about the big screen TV with music videos playing with comfortable seating and the pop corn, hot dogs and snow cones was a great treat. It definitely did WOW us.
